We wrote about “your hearing changes over time” a few years ago, but it is so important that we find many of our patients needed to be reminded of this fact again. Research demonstrates that most types of hearing loss gradually worsen as we get older… This means a hearing aid fitting done three or more years ago may need changes to its program. If it is over five years old, it may even need an urgent upgrade.
We strongly encourage our patients to have their hearing checked every year or any time they sense their hearing may be worsening. Unfortunately, many of you have not done, and no doubt may have worse hearing now and not even know it since it is so gradual. May we suggest a simple call to get scheduled for a hearing evaluation. You will be glad you did it.
